EVOO Beneficial against COVID-19

  A study by the University of Naples and Perugia has indicated that EVOO is a food that could block the entry of the COVID-19 virus into human cells, considering that the viral load is reduced. In this study, different “natural steroid molecules” were analyzed, which are present in nature and especially in foods such as EVOO. This study could give rise to more discoveries for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 and may be a first step in drafting a therapeutic protocol that will be sent to the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA). Once again, we see both olive oil and food in general having an important role not only for a full health, but also for the prevention of diseases or, in this case, viruses. Surely, in the future there will be more beneficial studies that confirm that EVOO, the main fat in the Mediterranean diet, continues to be very important and thus be able to increase its consumption worldwide.
