From the International Olive Council (IOC), they have prepared a report with data of imports from Japan of EVOO and its main partners. Japan is one of the benchmarks since it is the fourth largest importing world power with 7% of total world imports, ranking behind the US with 36%, the European Union with 15% and Brazil with 8%. In the following Table, the main partners of Japan for importation of EVOO and derivatives are represented.

As can be seen in TABLE 1, the largest exporter of Olive Oil and Olive Pomace Oil in Japan is Spain, reaching exports of 43,360 tons in the 2018/19 campaign, 29% more than the previous campaign. Italy, the second exporting country to Japan, in the last campaign reached 22,998 t of exports, 20.9% more than the previous campaign. Australia has also had a great increase in exports to Japan, having exported 192 tons in the 2018/19 campaign, well below other countries, but with an increase of 109.6% compared to the previous campaign.
Spain, being the largest EVOO producer in the world, is also a world leader in its exports. In one of the previous posts, we saw how Spain is also the first exporter of EVOO to the USA. Thanks to these studies, we see the confidence that many countries have in the quality of Spanish products, thus making Spain a leading country in global EVOO exports.
